With more than thirty-five years of experience as performer, choreographer, improvisor, and educator in contemporary/modern dance and dance theater, I have spent almost as much time investing in cross-training practices which revive my body when the kinetic whirl of dance has pulled it apart. I thrive on tailoring each private training session to meet the physical needs and embodied goals of my clients. In small group sessions (for now only offered on Zoom), I design specialized programs as group dynamics emerge, and always delight in returning to beginning exercises, which never cease to offer new and deepening information.

My movement training and healing background also includes a variety of experience in somatic practices such as floor barre, choreographies by and studies with Irene Dowd, contact improvisation, Zen Touch Shiatsu; Ashtanga, White Lotus, and Anusara Yoga; Feldenkrais Method, Body Mind Centering, and Alexander Technique. I have a passion for learning, which is fed by working with a diverse clientele, my personal embodied and creative practices, and continuing education in STOTT PILATES, dance, and other somatic forms.

Becoming a STOTT PILATES Certified Instructor ignited in me a renewed passion for the power of focused and deeply articulated movement. I appreciate making connections where I can. If you have questions about my teaching in particular, or somatic practice in general, please send a message or call!

About Home is the Body

Personalized fitness and pilates practice from my home to yours!

In this turbulent time of public health and social justice crises, it is more important than ever to practice self-compassion and spark joy at home, in the body. At Home is the Body, it is our mission to help you discover the power of your innately intelligent body, address your personal fitness goals, and identify physical movement patterns and postural imbalances impeding your well-being. We then create tailor-made innovative programing designed to ignite your body's capacity to thrive!

During kind weather, sessions take place in our open-air gazebo (instructor wears a mask and gloves, and physical contact is negotiated based on client's comfort). When the weather is less cooperative, we move into the Home-Body indoor studio, (masks are required and physical contact is negotiated based on client's comfort). And, in response to public health needs, we also offer online sessions via Zoom.

We are in the process of planning workshop series in group mat work and movement practice that will take place online, via Zoom. Please message us with questions and sign up for our mailing list, or visit our Book Online page to set up a session!

Collaboration with IMAC: Stephanie will also be offering open air and indoor group mat classes at the Indianapolis Movement Arts Collective. To participate in the survey, which will determine days, times and format for the classes, please click HERE !

STOTT PILATES® is a contemporary approach to the original exercise method pioneered by the late Joseph Pilates. Lindsay and Moira Merrithew, along with a team of physical therapists, sports medicine and fitness professionals, have spent over three decades refining the acclaimed STOTT PILATES method of exercise. The refined method resulted in the inclusion of modern principles of exercise science and rehabilitation — making it one of the safest and most effective methods available. STOTT PILATES is recognized as The Professional’s ChoiceTM by studios, fitness facilities, fitness professionals and the consumer market worldwide.
